MIssion Accomplished!

Tonight I saw walk the Line.. what an excellant movie. The story of Johnny Cash. Very interesting to say the least. Kind of wish they focused more on his faith. But oh well, my friend Shannon Roddy worked on it. Look for him in the credits as S.D. Roddy. Man it feels good when you know a famous person. hahha or something like that.

So for all of you who read this, ((i think it might be three)) ... i know your all dying to know how my homework assignment turned out? Lets just say I passed with Flying colors!! Everything went well, even though I was nervous a little, since the last time I tried to grow some balls and ask a girl out it didn't work out so well. But this one did and its a great feeling! So i have a real, official, genuine date this weekend with a very special girl. NO this is Not a hang out people.. its a date. Two people going out together, there might be some dressing up, there might be some talking.. who knows..
But sadly, i don't think any of my comerades have completed their homework yet. I am pretty excited about it. who knows maybe shes even reading this now..heheh.. so thats all i am going to say about it..don't want to give too much away. It will be special I know.

In other news..oh wait there isn't any.. well i guess me updating this more than twice in one week could count.. Thanks to all my loyal readers...

Don't blink..Yes he is back

So yes I know this is a typical post for my self.. And yes you can believe it I am finally updating my blog.

This weekend was probably one of the best I have had in a long time. It was thanksgiving and I definitely have a lot to be thankful for. Won't go into detail, but will give you the brief synopsis of the weekend.

My sister came up to visit me from the OC ( no not my favorite show, but the place that actually exists) and we went shopping for our glorious thanksgiving day we would be spending at that lovely and talented Azina and Nicole's place. SO we get to their house have a most excellently home cooked meal, enjoyed the company of great friends and drank really good wine. Then it all started. I got the shopping bug. I took my sister out to pick out her wedding dress.. Oh wait.. I mean her present for Christmas. See my sister and I have this understanding that we both go shopping with each other and let each other pick out the gifts, buy them and then wrap up something really silly for Christmas. That way we all get what we want, have the experience of picking it out together, and get to wrap up something fun. Somehow or another I got coerced into buying more throw pillows for my already comfy couches.

next day I go to the movies to see pride and prejudice. Yea go on and say it.. Its a girly movie. So I brought room along and had a good time with friends. I honestly enjoyed the movie and go to finally understand why it was a classic. Then Sarah and Jodi and Chris and I went to starbucks where I found a new love of Soy. its really good.

After that we all went to pier one and after some Wine glass jenga decided jon mark needed to buy clothes for the Christmas parties and weddings coming up in his life. Shanelle happened to join us at this point and Lord knows she likes to take care of her boys.. so it was off to banana republic for me. We get there and Chris and her immediately go run and grab all these clothes for me to try on. Meanwhile josh Wilson and Luz show up. so now I have an audience for my clothes shopping. to make a long story short my fashion coordinators, or dart inc and rose enterprises, were ecstatic about my new look. I felt like I was the star of a reality TV show called Renovate Jon Mark. With much rejoicing and many of clothes that were tried on, I bought my very first pair of slacks/trousers/ or whatever you call it. They look great, and even fit well too. Mom Dad, Maria, I am almost a new man when it comes to looking good. So that felt nice.

After our fun little shopping extravaganza, All were hungry and felt Red Robin would be the food of choice for the evening. We all sat down, and some how the topic of dating came up. The jest of the conversation revolved around the fact that boys at our church don't have enough balls to straight up ask a girl out on a date. We all gave our sides of the story, which was very insightful.. I just kinda sat there and watched the two conversation starters get into it. I agreed with a lot of points most had to say, and did learn a fair deal. So at the end, Shanelle, decides to give us some homework. . The deal was that all of the men at the table have to ask out a girl this week on a date. Not to hang out or whatnot,, a for real date. Looks like I got my homework cut out for me. Now its bed time. But I wish I could breakdance.

Driving across country again

I am currently in new something town in the great state of PA. Somehow I don't know why i like this state, but i do for some reason. Besides the fact that they have really slow speed limits and lots of cows that well smell like cows. I kinda like it. I am sitting in my hotel room hanging out with Jeff, my new friend from instant live. We just drove from LA to here. ALong the way we got to see lots of fun things. we made a stop in New mexico and had some amazing new mexican food. If you get the chance make sure you try a sopapilla's.. they are amazing. Thanks to the Wondeful and amazing Skipper.. we found a little rinkiny dink hole in the wall place where Vikki gave us free sopapilla's. Think of it as fried bread that is hollow that you pour honey in and eat.

Then we were in St.l Louise last night and i got to see the infamous Dan Kelley who showed us a wonderful monday night on the town. it was nice.. then today we drove to Pa. we are meeting up with the Black crowes again in Phili for two shows. then i get to fly back. I kinda like touring, Its fun to just get out and see the country.

In other news, I am wanted in texas because i didn't pay a speeding ticket. well i did but the court didn't cash my check.. its a long lame stupid story that i wiill tell if you ask me, but all that to say i can't drive in texas. So if you havn't heard the new switchfoot .. go check it out.. its amazing. welle i am tired.. goodnight for now

gifts are good things

today was great. Got to help dave instal really cool lights in his kitchen. Then we grilled out and had fillet mingion (spelling?) and had grands cheddar biscuits, and amazing rasberry salad. Talk about having a party in your mouth you just don't want to stop... then we watched a really manly manly movie.. i think it was gladiator..yea and we watched twice..

oh and in other news... A super amazing, most awesomely, wonderful friend has decided to take up knitting and let me be her guinee pig (spelling.. man i just really picked hard words to spell tonight) And she has decided to give me a homeade scarf...she even let me pick the color today.. If any of you have friends who knit... keep them close to you...they will keep you warm.. because they can make sweaters and stuff.

Chilling at home.. 51 hours to get there

Shannon Roddy gets the champion of the year award for driving with me 51 hours straight to Massachussets from LA with the company Sprinter van. It was probably the coolest accomplishment i have ever done besides skydiving. Luckily I get to fly back since the van is going out on tour. 51 more hours would most likly send me into lunicy.

So I just talked to my Grandfather from my dads side of the family. Unfortunatly he has alzheimers. It was so good talking to him. He has always been that grandfather who has lived super far away, so i havn't got to talk to him much. It was so sad because half way through the conversation he started calling me Jack (my dad) and how it was so nice to hear from me. I think i need to call him more often. I never really did get to connect with him and from what my dad tells me, he tells great stories.. For example he has this whitty sense of humor. Like when i told him i drove across country, he said " yea and i hear that takes a few gallons of gas" so then we started talking about gas prices, and he told me he used to buy gas for 19 cents a gallon, and then he was like "then they upped it to 20 cents.. and we all went crazy" haha .. what an amazing guy. Its too bad he isn't a believer.. so if your a praying person, please lift up my Grampa Deardorff.

Like i said before I am In Mass now with my folks taking a little time off while doing a lot of work as well. I also got to record my brothers band when i wasn't working. We are doing a new EP with three of their newest songs. We got most of the tracking done but still need to record some screaming and some trombones. Its been a fun process but a tiring one. It has been nice to get away for a little bit.

Did everyone hear about the hurricane taking over new orleans? Its pretty intense, they are asking new orleans residents to evacuate as the city could be under water in the next day or so .

So today topic for the comments board.... What is worse ? A hurricane, tornado, earthquake or flood?

off to cali at the drop of a hat

So after my shameless post last time I have seemed to spark an outrageous amounts of conversations in my comments section. Good times and I am proud of all of you for taking the lead on that one. Even though I think I have an audience of three...(based on previous said comments). Nicole has to get props too for coming up with the idea of creating conversations in the comments section instead of my "Invisible ink" section. So maybe I will start doing small posts that bring up controversial things and then just have conversations with people in the comments. Hopefully this will solve the invisible ink problem.

So anyway here it is.. The next post. Not as shamefull unfortunately.

After returning from San Francisco, San Diego and all the cities in between, I am off to see the rest of the country. Tomorrow actually. I start my drive to Boston to meet up with the Hall and Oates camp at the Boston pavilion. Its a really sweet venue out on the water in Boston. And the best part is I get to see my family for the first time this year!!!

So tonight's controversial topic. What is up with ants in California...I mean seriously, I keep my kitchen spotless for like a week, and they just find a way of coming back.. They even come and join me at my computer sometimes. Today I guess they went back to their holes.. but seriously..ants.. there is plenty of food or water outside...go find some.

Let the comments begin!

Hazaa!!!!

Well the last few days have been fun.. I have driven from San Francisco stopped in LA and with the help of Shannon, we realoaded a van full of gear for this NARM convention. NARM stands for National Association of Retail Merchandising. Now i am in San Diego Its been a lot of fun. And the best part is my hotel has the most amazing view see below. I really wish I had brought my surf board. But for some reason i Just want to go sailing now. Anyone up for it? oh and I will be down here for the entire weekend if anyone feels the need for a road trip. Our afternoons are pretty open.

Finally!!!!

Well its been a little while since i have posted... guess i have been busy. So the last two nights i went to bed at 6 am... talk about messing up your bodily time clock. Work has been stressful, tiring, but very rewarding. We spent the evenings or shall i say mornings working on our sprinter van. Which still has some minor glitches to be worked out.. But the good news is I got to mix my first Black Crowes Instant Live show!!! Yes my very first real gig! And I am really happy with it. And the best thing is that I get to do it tommorow night too. I truley am blessed. Last year about this time, this is definatly where I wanted to be in the coming year, and it has become a reality. But now.. i am tired... so leave me love i am going to bed.

White and flying 101

So for all of you that guessed at my last question, which i think was one... because i only know of two people who read this... the answer is actually white. The song is Matt Wertz... Red meets blue. My good friend Phil Griswold, who happens to be an artist, actually taught me that last year while riding in my car. When green meets red and red meets blue it creates white. Its easier to see when editing a photo. When you adjust the temperature you are adjusting the consistency of the red, green and blue colors. if you put them all at the highest intensity you get white. I find that super intriguing because its one of those "hidden secrets" we find in the world about God and how creative he is. Really makes you think what else is hidden out there in the world that has the mark of God in it. I need more revelations like that.

Today was fun. just worked... and came home after fighting traffic.. typical day. The highlight of today was by far visiting the third floor of the clear channel offices. It used to be the old Maverick records building, Madonna's label. So I got to check out Madonna's office and her extravagant crimson red bathroom with a black toilet.. Very similar look to my friend Dave's bathroom. Only he has a white toilet...

Well here is some more eye candy for you .. This was the view i saw when jumping out of a plane.. goes back to that whole How awesome God is especially at 13,000 feet

"Keep distracting me with that beauty.....leaving me wanting more"

Today was man day! Met with the guys, ate some semi ghetto eggs, then came home and watched macgyvere while doing laundry. Traffic was bad.. both going to work and coming back, which was really weird.. literally a total of almost four hours in the car today.. never a good thing . only made me want my moped more and more. Its funny.. today i realized that sometimes I take for granted how much God has done for me, and how much more he wants me to come to him first and trust him with my life. well i have left you with some eye candy of sorts... it was probably my most exciting thing i have ever done.. you should come with us next time we do it this october... Its so awesome to see how good of an artist God really is from that height... and then to be a part of it... WOW!!!!

what happens when green meets red and red meets blue? if anyone can answer that i will give them a prize.

tuesday...another wreckless and used day

Tuesday, what a day especially when you get a long weekend out of it. I think I formed a new habit today. Working on the moped late at night. Ahhh.. so relaxing. I even found a way to shine rusted metal... Brush drill bit.. ooo amazing! Yesterday was the 4th, and i actually had a great time, even though for the first time in my life i felt all alone. You know how on holidays your supposed to be with close friends and family? Well I took a leap this 4th and decided to go to the party where i only knew two people and they were from work. IT was a great risk to take because i ended up having a blast and got to watch the fireworks from atop the valley and then later from a hot tub. Good times with the English man.

And for some reason this weekend two totally different people thought i looked like stephen Hyde from the 70s show. Its pretty hilarious. I was walking to the beach with a friend.. and dude in his car was like.. ."hey its that guy from the 70's show" It probably was the aviator sunglasses I was wearing. I by no means look "famous" But then it happened again at the party last night. Some young 18 year old girl who just happened to be hitting on myself and this 40 year old english guy I call my friend Andy, and shes like.. "hey is your name stephen? like from that 70s show?" haha.. funny funny.

Sunday I went to the beach, and got a mad sunburn, even with sunscreen. On top of that I still havn't gotten to surf with my new board yet. The surf was super small and not worth wrecking my board over.

I like new hobbies..

There is Hope!

Today was great. I got to sleep in, go for a run, do my laundry, watch some macgyver, and best of all I started to fix my moped. I took it to my friend Robin's house, where he has like twelve mopeds in pieces, and we stripped her down. IT was so much fun. I think I found my new hobbie. Now if i could just find someone who is really good at working on cars, and i had a garage and some money... it would be time to restore a 67 corvette!!

You can see in the pictures... the bike is susspended from a beam that holds up my neighbors garage. Then in the next picture you can see the little piston on the top of the enigine there. Yup.. that little 2 inch piston generates 2 horsepowers. Basically what happened was i took apart the engine and "freed" the piston which was frozen in rust.. oh how wd40 is my friend. It was great though, I felt like a mans man today. It was such a great feeling when that cylinder became free...the sense of accomplishment, right there in my very own 4 feet of a backyard.

Today was also great because it was my first real day off in a long time, so long i can't remember, maybe two weeks. Last week was phoenix with hall and oats. I didn't do anything i would normally do on a saterday, No one had anything planned and it felt great. Finally some Jon Mark time. Now i smell like wd40 and sweat...time for a shower.

growing up...

Its funny, you know how you never say you will turn into your parents or do stuff like they do it.. Well I am finding more and more I was so wrong.. For example... I find myself wanting to go to bed earlier and earlier becuase i have to wake up earlier and earlier. I am turning into an old man. Its midnight and i am so tired. Maybe i have a tiring job? I mean after all i sit at a desk all day and wait for a tour to come along.

Today was a good day. I got to make a mock up for a Dane Cook cd. We are trying to pitch him for Instant Live so we talked with the Comedy division (who today gave me the chapelle show season 2) and they wanted a sample of what we could do. Needless to say I am super proud of it, because our in house design guy Braden also know as "hot bowling shoes" is an amazing designer.

After that my english friend Andy took me to this really amazing place in beverly HIlls. I forget what it was called but we got some delicious Salmon and jasmine rice and then had some great apple pie to top it off. Man what a great place. Right on rodeo and wilshire. Nothing like a nice walk in beverly hills. Its funny because i just got the new Weezer album and they have that beverly hills song. I used to think as a child that someday songs will mean something to me, and that i could relate and know what they are talking about. Well today as i drove away I blasted Beverly Hills by Weezer with my windows down. I am such a dork! If you guys havn't heard the new Weezer album its really really good.

Yesterday was interesting because i felt like God was telling me i was being selfish. And then to top it off an old friend who I havn't talked to in more than a year or two randomly imed me at work and started to tell me this sob story and how she couldn't pay her bills and it sounded to me like she was asking for money. I of course being in my selfish mood wrote it off and just said .. hey call me later.. So when she called I was really not interested so I ignored the call, but something told me I should call her back. I did and for a lot of the conversation she told me about how she has had such a rough life in the past year or two with her new husband and that she has all these medical things wrong with her, her bills were piling up, and to make things worse her landlord was basically screwing her. I just listened and sat there. the whole time waiting for her to ask me for some money and send her a check. Well boy was I wrong, she never once brought it up.

And thats when it occured to me....Jon Mark, your being selfish, what does your friend really need here? I remember something my dad once taught me.. the power of Prayer. Growing up I had seen my dad pace through the halls on the phone councelling someone, and then at the end he would always pray with them over the phone. I always thought that was weird. When I would ask my father for advice in situations like this with friends, he would always ask me, "so you talked to her and listened, did you offer to pray for her right there on the phone?"

What a Jerk I am sometimes. Here I am just waiting for her to ask for a hand out and I couldn't even see that all she needed was some prayer. So I asked her to pray.. and we did.. and she started crying.. Then told me that she had needed that for a long time now.

It really is amazing how much prayer impacts people, even the ones who are filled with faith like my friend. So if the Lord ever gives you the urge to pray for someone, don't fight it.. ask them to pray and see what amazing things God can do through it.

Thats all for now... Got any cool prayer stories to share?

qoute of the night... came from Andy Scarth our englishman who is working over here with us... " I am not a foreigner.. I am an Alien of extraordinary ability!!!"

I love fourteen hour days!

So i just realized with the help of a good friend that Its been almost a month since i have posted on this.. Which brings me to my next question...WHERE DID THE LAST MONTH GO? Oh ya.. i work too much. Today I got done working about 10 minutes ago. so that would mean i worked 13 hours today again. I really have to stop doing that. But "you got to do what it takes" declares my boss, yes.. the one who calls me at midnight to chat.

Since its been a while i might as well put in a few highlights from the past month:

- I bought a moped in san diego for 10 bucks and fit it in the back of my camry.
- A buddy hooked me up with a surf board that I don't have time to use.
- my church had a sweet beach bonfire at huntington where I locked the keys in my car,, yes even the spare in my wallet.
-Instant Live got their first big tour with Hall and Oats. Yes thats the band that does the song Maneater. (whoooah.. here she comes... she's a man eater"
- Drove to phoenix and back with Hall and Oats
- GoD rocked my world and gave me a huge wake up call and at the same time broke me right when i needed breaking. Funny how hes good like that.
-realized that I am so blessed to have such amazing friends.
- My brothes band BTJ you can visit at Myspace.com/btj or btjrock.com did their first mini canadian tour.
- My Sister Maria, went to Africa to work at an orphanage. Now she is in D.C. working in the inner city with her school.
THrough that Maria just inspired me to not doubt the power of God, and that we are such spoiled people in America who stress out over things like what we want to do for the fourth of july. When in Africa people are so close to GOd because they have to be, they have to rely on him because they have nothing. Then i look around me and I am surrounded by stuff. How pitiful. That also happened to be the day When God broke me at work right in front of my boss.. For the first time in a long time I got well.. lets just say "really really EMO"
- I got to help brighten someones day today!

On a sad note, I will not be able to get back home for the fourth and meet my brothers girlfriend. My family usually go to maine to our house we have on sebago lake and watch fireworks.. I hate breaking traditions. But hey life changes so I got to roll with the punches i guess.

oh .. i just remembered I found the Magyver dvds at walmart when i went to phoenix. OH ya.. i totally forgot, I got to visit with my best friend from childhood, Joe prunera who lives in Phoenix when i was there last week. That was really cool because he has this really sweet beat up ford bronco. When i asked him for a ride he literally had to shovel crap and trash out of his passenger seat and floor. IT was hilarious. Even though it was great roaming around walmart like old times, it was sad too. When I asked him what his friends were doing that night, he said,,"oh he is out with so and so.." Then when i asked him why he said he.. as opposed to they, he said because he only really has one. It was hard to see a good friend so lonely. That once again made me realize how blessed I really am.

well there you have it.. my latest post.. totally ramdom with no order to it..
Tommorow we meet with comedy department at work.. hopefully they can make me laugh.

making up ...

Homeruns and roller coasters

Well today was probably the biggest roller coaster ride i have had in a while. Let just say there was nothing better than to hit a home run on the first at bat in softball especially after you have had a craptastic day! You ever have those days when you get totally broken by the Lord.. ya.. happened today. I love how the Lord sometime likes to get our attenton.

So I got "the talking to" from the boss today which was unexpected.. you know the kind where they say you don't do enough and this might not be a "long term situation for you" ya.. totally craptacular. But in it all I got a really large fire lit under my butt to work at a faster pace, be more proactive and to ask lots of questions. So i guess i need to get more organized, ask more questions and find out better descriptions of what the given task is that needs to be done or else i am goin to get blamed for not coming through in time. I know today will be one of those days where i will look back and say, "oh ya i learned a lot from that and laugh" but not really feeling that right now. So if your a praying person, pray for focus and direction and wisdom for me and the guys i work for. Part of it is I am not relying on God enough to meet my needs at work, i am trying to do it all myself. Why the crap don't I learn, I can't do it all myself!!! Sometimes i just get frustrated with myself.
anyway i am so tired.. leave love..

My friends are awesome!

So ya, I think i am officially the most blessed kid i know. I have the most awesome friends. I was thinking about this today because i think in the last week, i have only had one day where i havn't gotten to hang out with amazing people.. Like tonight.. Shannon called me tonight and was like.. uh so whats the plan.. i was like uh.. i dunno.. just come over... so then we called "the girls" as we call them and they came over by way of using the movie raizing arizona which we didn't even end up watching... then the kids from the neighbor hood came over and we just played with our ipods all night.. it was grandioso..

So ya on top of that.. my day at work was well.. just ok. so coming home to great friends was just what I needed. So thanks God, I know i don't tell you that enough, but ya thanks it shows how much you really do love me.

oh and even cooler, last night we went to wilsons house because our friend from vegas Josh Stine, was in town.. well towards the end of the night, we all piled into josh's parents mini van (all 9 of us) and went to bring Nori some dinner. OH man talk about good times.. Wish we could do it every night! Its too bad stine doesn't live here permanently.. it would be amazing!!

well thats all the news I got .. oh wait.. how could i forget.. I got the new coldplay !!! and the new lifehouse!!!

ok kids.. leave love and comments..

Trail of Dead show

San Francisco...my first time here . Its such a beautiful place. I have been blessed with such an amazing job that pays me to drive all over California and bo to concerts and sell cds..

Tonight was cool because I basically got to watch the S.F. team work and do their thing.. We also were at one of the most famous venue the Fillmore.. when you walk up the stairs.. there are posters covering the walls of all the bands they have had in there. The most amazing one was of the greatful dead at like 23 years old.. no beards nothing..

Driving up here was fun though. We got into the area and hit some traffic.. but it was amazing when
We crossed over the bay bridge. Apparently this is longest bridge in the world (from what they tell me) Its 5 miles long.
Well I am not one for having another blog.. because I know only like two people will ever read this.. OH and btw.. i couldn't post on a certain persons site because i was not a member... so i said.. what the hay...
